25.06.2024 Noticias Brazil will start the implementation of Stage 3 of the HPMP
The third Stage of the Brazilian Hydrochlorofluorocarbons Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) was approved during the 94th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol, which took place between May 27th and May 30th. The country will count with US$ 36,5 million to implement the third and last phase of the program that aims to achieve the elimination of 100% of HCFC consumption by 2030.

Leveraging the vast emissions reduction potential of correct disposal of ODS and HFC banks.
08.11.2023 Noticias MOP35 Side Event: 27 years of Montreal Protocol implementation in Kenya
Kenya has made considerable achievements in the Montreal Protocol implementation: CFCs were completely phased-out in 2010, and they were followed by halons and methyl bromide. As replacements, natural refrigerants were introduced into the Kenyan market. What made these achievements possible? In the side event, Kenyan stakeholders and the implementing agency GIZ looked back to 27 years of cooperation, reflecting on the effectiveness of the different measures they have put into practice.
08.11.2023 Noticias MOP35 Side Event: World Café on Energy Efficiency
Energy Efficiency is an important matter to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the growing refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) Sector.
The Multilateral Fund (MLF) to the Montreal Protocol is offering a new funding window on financing energy efficiency in the RAC Sector (Decision 89/6 and 91/65). How can this funding window be used? Around 50 participants had lively exchanges on that question at our interactive World Café on Effective Energy Efficiency Measures.Evento: 06 febrero 2024, 2:00pm UTC , EUCD: Diálogos sobre el clima de la Unión Europea - Taller 2 (Zona horaria de América Latina)

18.01.2024 Noticias Cool Talks: "From the beginning we decided to only work with natural refrigerants"
For this Cool Talk, we have had the opportunity to interview Kim Christensen,
Founder and CEO of Fenagy. Kim is a mechanical engineer; throughout his career he has been working with many different types of refrigerants. He has been part of the refrigeration industry since his first job in 1994 at the Danish Institute of Technology, who was the forerunner on natural refrigerants in the late '80s and the early '90s.11.01.2024 Noticias Regional NOU Officers Negotiation Training held in Nairobi
The Green Cooling Initiative and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Kenya organized a two-day regional negotiation training on strengthening negotiation skills for the international context for the National Ozone Officers of GCI partner countries in October 2023 in Nairobi.
11.01.2024 Noticias Cool Talks: “We need to inform, through different channels, that there are alternatives to F-gases and that these alternatives are not dangerous.”
For this Cool Talk, we have had the opportunity to interview Armin Hafner,
Professor in refrigeration technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In 1995 he joined SINTEF, in this capacity as researcher he worked closely with NTNU on CO2, air conditioning and other refrigeration systems at that time. He became a professor at NTNU in 2016.MiemberoECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH
ECOOLTEC Grosskopf GmbH aims to offer the refrigerated transport industry solutions for the challenges posed by environmental regulations and CO2 certification. Therefore, the German company has developed a new generation of particularly sustainable, efficient and safe refrigeration machines. Technological highlights of the refrigeration machines are among others the almost emission- and CO2-free drive, the use of the natural refrigerants R1270 (propene) and R744 (CO2) with lowest single-digit global warming potential instead of fluorinated refrigerants with GWP values of approximately 2,000; highest operational safety together with enormous available cooling capacity, coupled with extraordinary energy efficiency. ECOOLTEC has secured the system against leakage into the structure by means of a fully hermetic refrigeration circuit and uses a small refrigerant charge down by 90 percent compared with conventional transport refrigeration systems. The refrigeration process takes place completely outside the cargo hold. In the box body, the non-flammable natural refrigerant CO2 ensures cold distribution. The units are suitable for a wide range of mobile applications. They can be used for the largest as well as for compact box bodies, for trailers and rigid vehicles, in both short and long-haul operations. …
