The event takes place virtually via MS Teams as part of the 33rd Meeting of the Parties (MOP33) to the Montreal Protocol 2021. It was organised by GIZ Proklima on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
HFC emissions could, in the absence of any regulation, result in an increase of 0.35-0.5°C in global mean temperature by 2100. The international community has therefore agreed to phase-down HFCs under the Kigali Amendment. But how can the objectives be reached?
As one element, states can set incentives for HFC-free technologies. This side event will have a closer look at that possibility. Experts will give insights on different ways of setting incentives and how this has already been realized in some countries.
