The training was held by the Bundesfachschule Kälte-Klima-Technik (BFS) - one of the largest refrigeration schools in Europe - and is designed for specialized RAC experts and technicians. The participants, which include trainers of vocational schools, are expected to act as multipliers, disseminating the knowledge and skills gained within their respective regions.

Combining theoretical instruction and practical exercises, the training focused on the application of natural refrigerants in commercial refrigeration systems, particularly propane (R290) and carbon dioxide (R744). The use of ammonia (R717) as a refrigerant was also covered and demonstrated during an excursion to a frozen goods warehouse operated by Nordfrost in Groß-Gerau, Hesse.

The international training was organized by GIZ Proklima on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection as part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
