18 air conditioner and refrigeration (RAC) technicians had the chance to participate in a Cool Training in Thailand. They learnt how to handle the natural refrigerant R290.
Shortly ago, a Cool Training took place in Songkhla province in Thailand. Within three days course, the 18 participants learnt how to install R290 (propane) air conditioners safely. The lessons contained several theoretical sessions and practical trainings.
All participants are technicians in the air conditioning and refrigeration (RAC) sector. Part of their jobs in the future will be to maintain ACs that run with natural refrigerants, and to upgrade their skills the training was offered at the Songkhla Institute for Skill Development training center in Songkhla province.
The Green Cooling Initiative III provides an ongoing training series together with the Department for Skill Development (DSD). The aim of the cooperation is to prepare the technicians for the changes in their work and to give them the opportunity to learn a lot of new skills which will then help Thailand to fulfil its National Determined Contributions (NDCs) in the RAC sector which contributes largely to the climate change.
This training series provides the opportunity for technicians to specialize in natural refrigerants which offers them a lot of new jobs and at the same time saves the climate and the ozone layer.
