Sixteen RAC skills trade trainers from twelve Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) across India have successfully completed a two-week Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in Maintal, Germany.

12.10.2025 News Cool Training 2025: Advancing Know-How On Natural Refrigerants Worldwide
Fourteen RAC technicians from eleven countries participated at this year’s Cool Training in Maintal acquiring comprehensive knowledge and practical expertise in the operation and maintenance of cooling technologies using natural refrigerants. Participants represented a diverse range of countries, including South Africa, Seychelles, Mongolia, and Colombia.

08.09.2025 News Brazil: Natural Refrigerants Training Laboratory Inaugurated at Firjan-SENAI Benfica, Rio de Janeiro
On 19 August 2025, the training laboratory simulating a mini-supermarket with natural refrigerants CO₂ and R-290 was inaugurated at Firjan-SENAI Benfica, in Rio de Janeiro. The lab was established under the Brazilian HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP), coordinated by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA/NOU) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

02.09.2025 News National and Regional Training of Trainers on Climate and Environmentally Friendly Energy Efficient Air Conditioning Conducted
Kenya’s efforts toward green cooling continues with the promotion of the use of highly energy efficient, climate and environmentally friendly refrigerants in room split air conditioning systems (R290). Under the GRACE Project, the first two Training of Trainers sessions took place in August, at The Nairobi National Polytechnic, bringing together around 30 RAC Trainers from various institutions in Kenya as well as participations of eight other African countries.

In June, the first training laboratory in Brazil simulating a mini-supermarket with natural refrigerants CO₂ and R-290 was inaugurated at FAPRO-ETP Technical School, in Curitiba (PR), in the framework of the Brazilian HCFC Phase-out Management Programme (HPMP). The initiative marks an important step in the country’s transition towards sustainable refrigeration in the commercial sector.

Green Cooling solutions in Kenya: The handover of climate and environmentally friendly Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) equipment to local institutions was a milestone within the Green Cooling Initiative project that comes to an end soon. On Thursday, March 27, 2025, The Nairobi National Polytechnic hosted an event to mark the official handover of climate and environmentally friendly and energy-efficient transcritical CO2 ejector supermarket refrigeration training RACK and R290 split air-conditioners. This event was organized by the Kenyan Ministry of Education, the Kenyan Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry MECCF), the German Embassy, the Nairobi National Polytechnic and GIZ Proklima Green Cooling Initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).

24.04.2025 News Namibian Training Centers Receive RAC Tools and Equipment
As part of the Cooling Programme for Southern Africa (CooPSA), GIZ and Namibian ministries have donated tools and equipment worth €83,700 to four vocational training centres. The initiative supports the transition to climate-friendly cooling with R290 refrigerant. Upcoming trainings and strategic partnerships aim to equip future RAC technicians with the skills needed for a sustainable shift.
