05/2025 Publication - Report District Cooling's Impact on Tamil Nadu's Resource Use Landscape
Focusing on Tamil Nadu—one of the country’s most urbanised and climate-vulnerable states—the report explores how District Cooling can address rising urban heat, growing energy demand, and environmental stress, while supporting inclusive and climate-resilient development.

05/2025 Publication - Inventory / Cooling Strategy National energy efficiency strategy for domestic and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration in Cameroon
The rising electricity demand leads to power shortages and costly investments in new power stations, increasing CO₂ emissions. Energy efficiency offers a cost-effective alternative—reducing emissions, cutting consumer electricity bills, and easing pressure on the power grid. A smarter way to meet energy needs sustainably! The ROCA project is working on this in its partner countires. This publication presents some results and recommendations for Cameroon.

05/2025 Publication - Guide / Tool Including HFC Emissions in National Inventory Reports - Tier 1 Approach
This module introduces an MS Excel-based worksheet that facilitates the understanding of applied formulas for Tier 1.

05/2025 Publication - Video Preserving Fish and Climate in Félane, Senegal
In many regions, access to ice and refrigeration is much more than a simple need: it is essential for local economies, particularly for sectors such as fishing and agriculture, which rely on good preservation of products. In Félane, a locality in Senegal, our project ROCA put in place an innovative solution to meet this challenge.

04/2025 Publication - Guide / Tool HFC Emission Baseline Tool
The HFC Emission Baseline Tool introduces a practical methodology that leverages existing consumption data to establish robust HFC emission baselines for inclusion in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

04/2025 Publication - Event Documentation Green Cooling Webinar #1: R290 - A Sustainable Cooling Revolution
In this webinar, we leared how R290 can support climate action plans and contribute to global sustainability goals

04/2025 Publication - Short Information Material White paper for immediate steps for a sustainable future
Natural refrigerants like propane (R290) present a unique opportunity for the reefer industry to cut emissions, meet global climate targets, and drive sustainable innovation. A new white paper by GIZ and the Kuehne Climate Center outlines how the transition can succeed – and highlights four key actions for a future-proof, climate-friendly cold chain.

04/2025 Publication - Guide / Tool R290 Split Air Conditioners Resource Guide (Update 2025)
This resource guide, published by GIZ Proklima and the German Environment Agency, closes knowledge gaps and informs about the factors that are deemed crucial for a successful market transition to energy-efficient R290 split ACs. The first version of the guide from 2019 has now been updated.

11/2024 Publication - Inventory / Cooling Strategy National energy efficiency strategy for domestic and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration in Senegal
The growing demand for electricity has a number of implications, principally more frequent power shortages as generation fails to meet the increased demand. This in turn leads to significant investment in additional power stations. The additional electricity production will increase CO₂ emissions, contributing to the climate crisis. This demand could be reduced if energy were used more efficiently.

11/2024 Publication - Event Documentation MOP36 Side Event: Introducing Green Cooling in West and Central Africa
Experiences by the ROCA project
The project Refroidissement respectueux de l'Ozone et du Climat en Afrique de l'Ouest et Centrale (ROCA) promotes Green Cooling in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, and Senegal. It’s the first project in this region with a focus on natural refrigerants. In this side event, ROCA representatives presented results and lessons learnt of their work.
