01/12/2023 Actualité Montreal Protocol Pavilion at COP28
The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will see the first Montreal Protocol Pavilion that highlights the Montreal Protocol's enormous achievements in climate protection. Together with 15 partners, headed by the Ozone Secretariat, we have prepared an exciting programme.
01/12/2023 Actualité Training of trainers for highly energy efficient split R290 ACs in Ghana
In October 2023, 18 trainers from ten different institutions and companies participated in a 4-day training for trainers in Ghana on highly efficient Green ACs running on the ultra-low refrigerant Propane (R290). The training was organized jointly by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)-Ghana and GIZ’s project Sustainable Energies and Energy Efficiency for Climate Protection in Ghana (SE4C).
29/11/2023 Actualité Grenada Relaunches Natural Refrigerant Label and Trains Retailers in the Use of Energy Efficiency, Labels and Standards
Grenada's National Ozone Unit (NOU) in collaboration with the global project Cool Contributions fighting Climate Change II (C4 II) is actively advocating for the use of natural refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning appliances by launching a new version of the Green Cooling label.
08/11/2023 Actualité MOP35 Side Event: World Café on Energy Efficiency
Energy Efficiency is an important matter to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the growing refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) Sector.
The Multilateral Fund (MLF) to the Montreal Protocol is offering a new funding window on financing energy efficiency in the RAC Sector (Decision 89/6 and 91/65). How can this funding window be used? Around 50 participants had lively exchanges on that question at our interactive World Café on Effective Energy Efficiency Measures.08/11/2023 Actualité Grenada Cool Training: Applying Natural Refrigerant Technology
Between 21 and 25 August, two trainings were organized to equip RAC technicians and trainers in Grenada with the necessary knowledge to safely use and handle the natural refrigerant propane while facilitating the exchange of experience and expertise at the local and the regional level.
08/11/2023 Actualité MOP35 Side Event: 27 years of Montreal Protocol implementation in Kenya
Kenya has made considerable achievements in the Montreal Protocol implementation: CFCs were completely phased-out in 2010, and they were followed by halons and methyl bromide. As replacements, natural refrigerants were introduced into the Kenyan market. What made these achievements possible? In the side event, Kenyan stakeholders and the implementing agency GIZ looked back to 27 years of cooperation, reflecting on the effectiveness of the different measures they have put into practice.
07/11/2023 Actualité Cool Talks: “SINTEF believes that natural refrigerants are the only long-term and sustainable path for the refrigeration and heat pump sector”
For this Cool Talk, we have had the opportunity to interview Ole Marius Moen, research scientist at SINTEF Energy Research. He has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). From 2014 until 2020 he has held several positions, as engineer and later senior engineer in TechnipFMC, working mainly with process flow dynamics in subsea oil and gas production. In 2020 he started as a research scientist in SINTEF Energy Research, and his main field of competence lies in high temperature heat pump systems using natural refrigerants.
06/11/2023 Actualité Cool Talks: “Natural refrigerants are the answers to climate friendly heating and cooling”
For this Cool Talk, we have had the opportunity to interview David Blankley,
Director Product Management Advanced Refrigeration from GEA Heating & Refrigeration Technologies. David has worked in the industrial refrigeration sector for over 35 years. Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to work at leading companies in the field of refrigeration, and he was taught by other experts who always promoted the use of natural refrigerants.31/10/2023 Actualité Green Cooling Summit 2023: Green Cooling along the Cold Chain | Highlights
