04.12.2024 Noticias GIZ Proklima Drives Sustainable Practices in India's RAC-Sector

GIZ Proklima in collaboration with the National Ozone Unit, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) Government of India, organised weeklong Training of Trainers (TOT) on “Good service practices and installation of room air conditioners with HCFC-22 and flammable refrigerants”. The TOT was conducted for master trainers/instructors of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) skills trade at (Government) Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Pusa, New Delhi, from Monday, 21st October 2024 to Friday, 25th October 2024. The event was attended by 24 RAC master trainers from government industrial training institutes across Delhi region.

The 36th Meeting of the Parties (MOP36) of the Montreal Protocol and the 13th Conference of the Parties (COP13) of the Viena Convention successfully took place in Bangkok from 28 October to 1 November 2024. GCI III has collaborated with government bodies, experts, and partner organizations to drive down greenhouse gas emissions from cooling technologies.

Africa's first climate and environmentally friendly air-conditioning chiller has been installed at the nearly Zero Emission Building in Accra, Ghana.  The chiller uses the natural refrigerant R290 and is mainly powered by a photovoltaic system, setting a new standard for sustainable construction.

These strategies foster an inclusive culture that promotes growth and innovation while improving service delivery. The HPMP II program trained 17,000 RAC technicians across India, and an impact assessment revealed valuable insights about women in the sector.

In celebration of the 37th commemoration of World Ozone Protection Day, GIZ Proklima conducted learning sessions for Environment Regulatory and Enforcement Personnel in Manila and Davao City. These sessions featured hands-on demonstrations by technicians and insights into destruction technology, emphasizing the importance of Refrigerant Recovery,  Identification and End of Life Management.
