On February 14, 2018, Midea – one of Chinese world’s leading technologies group in the RAC sector - received the German Blue Angel ecolabel for its new, environmentally friendly air conditioning system. The label was awarded to Midea during the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) trade fair in Milan, Italy.

Split-type air conditioners are responsible for the largest share of GHG emissions resulting from leaking refrigerants with high global warming potential. Midea China has responded accordingly by designing a monosplit inverter room air conditioner based on R290 (propane) as a natural refrigerant. The model, which runs with a nominal cooling capacity of 2.6 or 3.5 kW, will be available on the European market from the second half of 2018, according to Midea.

The Blue Angel is an ecolabel awarded by the Federal Government of Germany since 1978 for particularly environmentally friendly products and services. The high environmental standards set by the Blue Angel have established themselves over the past 40 years as a guide for more sustainable consumption and product design.
