GIZ Proklima contributed with a module on capacity-building and end-of-life management.  Together with the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC) (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre), GIZ Proklima (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre) conducted a module on “Capacity-building needs & opportunities for processing old equipment and servicing new alternatives”, focusing on safety issues related to the transition to low-GWP refrigerants and the necessity to establish a corresponding training and qualification scheme as well as proper waste management.

The “Twinning Workshop” was organised in conjunction with the regional network meetings of National Ozone Units, and funded by the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program (KCEP) (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre). The focus of the workshop was on assessing challenges and identifying opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of refrigerators and air conditioners amidst the refrigerant transition required by the Montreal Protocol and to strengthen regional cooperation.
