As last year, the commemoration of this year's National Ozone Day was held virtually in Iran due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The online ceremony was organized by the National Ozone Unit of Iran.
A total of about 45 people from all over the country participated, including ozone cells, trainers from the Technical Vocational Training Centre, the Ministry of Environment and colleagues from the NOU. At the beginning, Dr. Ebrahim Hajizadeh (Director of the National Ozone Authority) congratulated all those present on the day and expressed his satisfaction for the good cooperation with the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, which is one of the most successful international agreements and commitments to date.
This was followed by other high-level speakers from UNDP, UNIDO, the Technical Vocational Centre and GIZ (Mr. Alireza Saadatfar representing Mr. Bernhard Siegele from GIZ Proklima). GIZ reported, among other things, on its activities under the Montreal Protocol during these two years of the COVID pandemic, during which it faced challenges but also seized opportunities to continue their work.
