Since the beginning of 2018, the first nationwide hydrocarbon chillers are in operation to demonstrate the climate-friendly and energy-efficient use of this locally manufactured technology. The systems were designed by the Indonesian manufacturer AICOOL (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre) and the refrigerant produced by the state-owned gas and oil corporation PERTAMINA (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre). Currently the propane chillers provide cooling for two commercial buildings, two universities and one cold store serving research purposes. They were implemented within the framework of the Green Chillers NAMA (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre) project supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Republic of Indonesia (MEMR (Ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre)) in cooperation with the GIZ.
