At this year's Asian Clean Energy Forum (ACEF 18) in Manila in early June, the C4 project, together with the IEA and the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program (K-CEP), organized a deep dive workshop to promote efficient and clean cooling through technology and policy Innovation.
According to IEA projections, a large part of global electricity demand over the next 30 years will be attributable to air-condition. Facing this current development, the three parties presented current problems and possible solutions for the RAC sector’s important global GHG emission share through appropriate technology and policy approaches to representatives of the public and private sector.
Among others, results of a C4 performance study were presented, examining ‘green' split ACs in different GIZ Proklima partner countries over the last months. GIZ Proklima highlighted the environmental and economic potential of this technology in terms of energy efficiency, cost savings and climate protection. Further attention was called to the RAC NAMA Thailand project, a cooperation between the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and GIZ Proklima, to integrate energy efficiency potentials in the cooling sector with Thailand's climate targets.
