Almost 50 RAC trainers from 10 countries took part in trainings on the safe use of hydrocarbons
The trainings took place in May and June 2019 in Costa Rica. The three regional classes were focusing on R290 split AC and R600a refrigeration. Their specialty is the combination of both, theoretical and practical sessions including brazing and energy efficiency. The aim is to enable the participants to train other trainers or students on R290 split AC and R600a refrigeration in the future. The multiplication impact of such trainings in Costa Rica and other countries is estimated to be quite significant.
The training was organized by a range of giz projects such as C4 - Cool Contributions fighting Climate Change (abre en una nueva ventana), 4E - Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Central America (abre en una nueva ventana), HPMP Mexico and SPODS (abre en una nueva ventana). The programme took place in cooperation with the national ozone unit of Costa Rica (DIGECA/MINAE (abre en una nueva ventana)) and the national training institute (INA), supported by UNDP.
The training is part of a series of study tours and training activities of giz Proklima. Fit4Splits and Fit4Ref are trainings for trainers (ToT) developed exclusively to strengthen local capacities on the safe use of natural refrigerants within local conditions. Further trainings are foreseen.
