The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will see the first Montreal Protocol Pavilion that highlights the Montreal Protocol's enormous achievements in climate protection. Together with 15 partners, headed by the Ozone Secretariat, we have prepared an exciting programme.
You won't be on site? Don't worry, all side events will be livestreamed!
UNFCCC's 2023 Synthesis Report on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) shows that we are far away from limiting Global Warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This is devastating news for all of us, as each hundreth of a degree more means further increases in extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and other serious consequences. Hopes are therefore high that COP28 will bring new commitments. A Global Cooling Pledge is announced for 05th December. The potential is huge: the phase-down of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) can prevent up to 0.5°C of Global Warming by the end of this century. Let's continue our work for advancing Green Cooling!
As one of 16 partners, we are looking forward to welcoming you in our joint Pavilion in COP28's Blue Zone.
The Montreal Protocol Pavilion at COP28 will offer a platform for the Montreal Protocol and the cooling community to enhance their visibility and promote climate action. The Ozone to Cool Zone pavilion intends to capitalise on its side events and networking opportunities to spread awareness, scale current efforts, and increase ambition for more solutions that minimize the cooling sector's negative climate impacts, advance its sustainability goals and unlock innovation for more effective solutions.
