Green Cooling in hotels: Reducing emissions in the tourism sector

Event , 14 March 2023, 7:00am - 8:30am UTC

The Secretariat of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) presents its compliments to the IORA Member States and Dialogue Partners and has the honour to advise that IORA in collaboration with the GIZ project “Cool Contributions fighting Climate Change II” will be hosting a webinar on “Green Cooling in hotels: Reducing emissions in the tourism sector” on Tuesday, 14 March 2023 at 11-12.30 hrs (Mauritius time GMT+4).

The hotel sector is responsible for about 20% of the tourism industry's total emissions. For hotels in tropical regions, cooling often accounts for more than 50% of energy consumption. Through the switch to Green Cooling – highly energy-efficient cooling appliances using natural refrigerants, a significant amount of emissions and energy can be saved. This webinar will provide an overview of the climate impact of the tourism sector and advise on how to mitigate emissions, energy, and costs in hotels by using Green Cooling solutions.
