On occasion of a successful partnership between the Jetwing Hotel Group and the GCI, a Sri Lankan delegation participated in the Proklima Expert Talk in Eschborn. Site visits to different companies using green cooling technologies illustrated the German market for environmentally friendly and energy-efficient RAC appliances, and the potential for replicability in Sri Lanka.
The Jetwing Hotel Group is an environmental pioneer in the Sri Lankan hotel market. Under the technology partnership with the GCI, funded by Jetwing and the BMUB, the GCI installed an absorption chiller using steam generated in a cinnamon wood-burning boiler at the hotel Jetwing Blue (opens in a new window) located in Negombo. The German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle produced a short video (opens in a new window) on green technologies for the hotels.
