Kickoff workshop: Promoting climate-friendly cooling technologies on the Seychelles

01.12.2017 , News :

In early November, the GCI in cooperation with the Seychelles Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change held a kickoff workshop in Victoria to initiate a RAC sector transformation towards green cooling technologies.

The workshop initiated a 3-year project under which the GCI will support the Seychelles in fulfilling its commitments under the Paris Agreement and other international climate conventions. This includes reducing emissions from the RAC sector by promoting natural refrigerants, maximizing energy efficiency as well as adopting a sustainable approach to private and commercial energy consumption.

Over 50 participants from the public and private sector attended the GCI event. Political, private as well as governmental stakeholders discussed the planned activities under the GCI, which include the inventory and data collection in the RAC sector, a technology and market gap analysis, subsequent policy and technology recommendations and RAC technician training schemes.
