On the road to green cooling, Vietnam’s Department of Climate Change (DCC) in cooperation with GIZ Proklima presents its preliminary GHG inventory results for the RAC sector. The workshop took place mid of March 2018 in Hanoi and was attended by over 40 participants.
In the framework of the project C4 funded by BMU and its IKI, the National Ozone Unit (NOU) under the DCC in Vietnam cooperates with GIZ Proklima to develop mitigation strategies for the sector. In this context, a comprehensive GHG inventory for the sector has been undertaken, capturing both the direct and indirect emissions from refrigerant use and energy consumption respectively.
The aim of the presentation was to gather feedback from the key stakeholders (policy, private sector and academia) in the sector and ensure the inventory’s reliability. In that respect, DCC and GIZ Proklima agreed to provide more detail for quality assurance and quality control as requested by the participants. This will allow the inventory to be of use for Vietnam’s national GHG reporting to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC (opens in a new window)).
