Successful trainings for customs and other law enforcement officers in the art of detecting Ozone Depleting Substances and finalization of RAC technicians training series.
In April and July 2022 the phase-out program HPMP, supported by the German Ministry for International Cooperation (BMZ) held trainings to further strengthen the phase-out of ozone depleting cooling substances in Liberia. The trainings ultimately strengthen the implementation of the Kigali Amendment under the montreal Protocol and in practice focus on the detection of such substances and their proper handling.
Customs Trainings
Customs Training, Buchanan City
On April 21, 2022, the NOU conducted the first of two final customs and other law enforcement officers training workshop in Liberia under the theme "Monitoring and Detection of ODS and checking of ODS import documentation". The training included the role of customs officers in the implementation of the Ratified Kigali Amendment and had 15 participants,of which five female officers.
Customs Training at Bo, Waterside, Cape Mount County
On 28 July, 2022, the final customs training for the first stage of the HPMP was conducted at Bo, Waterside for 15 participants from both Liberia and Sierra Leone, with six females participating in the training. The workshop was once again held under the theme "Monitoring and Detection of ODS and checking of ODS import documentation" and the main focus was the role of customs officers in the implementation of the Ratified Kigali Amendment.
RAC Technicians Training
RAC Training, MVTC, Paynesville City Montserrado County
On 9 and 10 February 2022, the National Ozone Unit (NOU) of Liberia conducted the final of four Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (RAC) Technicians training workshop for 15 practicing technicians, including four females. The workshop was held under theme "Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Techniques, Safety and Best Practices" and fiinalizes a successful workshop and training series under the HPMP project, supported by Liberias Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The workshop was held at the Monrovia Vocational Training Center in Paynesville City where all participants impressed with their determination of implementing the taught techniques and knowledge.
