HFC emissions could, in the absence of any regulation, result in an increase of 0.35-0.5°C in global mean temperature by 2100. The international community has therefore agreed to phase-down HFCs under the Kigali Amendment. But how can the objectives be reached?

As one element, states can set incentives for HFC-free technologies. This side event had a closer look at that possibility. Experts gave insights into different ways of setting incentives and how this has already been realized in some countries.

This side event addressed the following questions:

  • How to incentivize the HFC phase-down?
  • What measures are countries taking already?
