01.12.2017 Noticias Workshop on the disposal of ODS at the World Resources Forum (WRF)
In October, GIZ Proklima participated at the World Resource Forum (WRF) in Geneva: The WRF serves as a platform fostering knowledge exchange on resources management amongst private, public and civil sector. Amongst 60 submissions, the recently published "Manual Dismantling of Refrigerators and Air Conditioners" within the project was selected to be presented during the scientific sessions of the WRF.

Over 60 participants from the policy, private and public sector joined the second GIZ Proklima side event during this years´MOP29 on the climate impact of ODS banks. The event was hosted by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) via its International Climate Initiative (IKI).

At this years´ MOP29 in Montreal in November, over 50 participants from policy, private sector and civil society followed the GIZ Proklima side event invitation and gathered to look beyond the achievements of the Montreal Protocol in the cooling sector.
01.12.2017 Noticias Side event at COP23: How sustainable cooling can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals
At the COP23 in Bonn in October, GIZ Proklima of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) successfully held a side event on the potential of sustainable cooling in supporting the International Climate Agenda. Over 40 participants attended the event, during which the significance of the Kigali Amendment for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement was discussed.

30 experts in the field of waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) participated in a GIZ workshop on the manual dismantling of RAC appliances, which took place as part of the "1st International Congress for the Integral Management of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and its Contribution to Climate Stability in Colombia".

The second GIZ side event during the OEWG in Bangkok focused on how to assess the climate benefits of energy efficiency. The side event with over 40 different stakeholders introduced different methodological approaches as well as practical examples from the perspective of RAC appliance manufacturers.
01.10.2017 Noticias GHG-inventories in the RAC&F sectors – opportunities and challenges for accelerated climate action
During the 39th Meeting of the OEWG to the Montreal Protocol, policy makers from developing countries gathered to learn more about greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories in the RAC & foam sectors (RAC&F). The side event outlined the respective inventory methodology and the various co-benefits of such an inventory beyond determining the sector's GHG emissions.

The GCI has updated its emissions data projections. Global predictions of individual countries' RAC emissions now include data until 2050, and reflect emerging trends in technology choices. Data can be accessed at here.

In the course of the ATMOsphere Europe - a series of global events that bring together political, industrial as well as private stakeholders promoting natural refrigerants - the GCI presented a case study on the needs to develop international safety standards for hydrocarbon (HC) refrigerants in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) appliances.

From September 25th to 29th about 40 participants from 17 different countries met at the Green Cooling Week 2017 in Berlin organised by the Green Cooling Initiative (GCI) in order to find out about the latest environmentally friendly cooling technologies and to jointly develop new ways of using, disseminating and promoting sustainable Green Cooling worldwide.
