In this third online event of our virtual Technology Roadshow we will travel to Mexico and Costa Rica and learn more about the use of natural refrigerants in industrial refrigeration and air conditioning:
Mabe: Industrial conversion / Domestic refrigeration (Mexico)
Mabe is the leader for home appliances in Latin America, based in Mexico. Mabe's goal is to eliminate the conventional refrigerant R134a and replace it with a new generation acidic gas such as R600a. A new compound called cyclopentane is used for foams. Additionally, Mabe's engineers are developing a new compressor at the CMC plant. A representative from Mabe will explain the challenges and solutions of a successful conversion to the refrigerant isobutane (R600a).Ministry of Transport of Costa Rica (MOPT): Air conditioning
The MOPT replaced its old ACs by inverter ACs based on R290 refrigerants. A total of 20 eco-efficient air conditioners were installed in 2019. A representative of the ministry will explain the advantages of these appliances and changes to the previous models.
