Since 1896: because experience counts We are an owner-managed family business specialising in the field of industrial refrigeration technology. In 1896, the company's founder, Theodor Witt, started out in Aachen as a plant manufacturer for brewer-ies. He built automated refrigeration systems with the refrigerant ammonia (NH3) completely in-house. The principle of mechanical high-pressure float regulators that he developed at that time can still be found in industrial plants today. Since the 1950s, the company has increasingly changed from a supplier of complete refrigeration sys-tems to a supplier of components. These were increasingly also distributed internationally via a network of independent WITT representatives. In 2010, we finally ended our own refrigeration system construction in order to focus completely on the further development of components. Today, we offer you a reliable partnership worldwide with system solutions consisting of standardised, high-quality components and units. The many years of experience are reflected in well thought-out details of our products, which guarantee high quality, reliability in operation and easy handling. The Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Industry Association (ARIA) has been in existence since 1998, incorporated on January 26, 1999 and launched on February 14, 1999 under the patronage of the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), The United Nations (UN), guidance of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. ARIA is a non- profit making association operated and funded by member companies using a yearly membership fee. The Fridge Factory, which used to be called Palfridge, was the first refrigeration manufacturer in the sub-Saharan region to convert their production lines to the use of natural refrigerants. With support of the GIZ Proklima, the entire production of domestic and commercial refrigeration appliances was converted to hydrocarbon refrigerants between 2008 and 2011. In 2012 the factory converted its foam blowing agent from the ozone depleting HCFC -141b to cyclopentane which has no ODP and a low GWP. …

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago acceded to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol for the Phase-out of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) in 1989, and operates under Article V(1) of the Montreal Protocol (MP). Trinidad and Tobago was the first country of the Caribbean Commonwealth to become a party to this multilateral environmental agreement and has ratified all amendments to the Protocol. The most recent ratification was to the Kigali Amendment to the Protocol in November 2017, the first country of the Caribbean Commonwealth and twenty first globally to do so. The National Ozone Unit (NOU) was established in August 1997, and currently resides within the Environmental Policy and Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning and Development. The programmes implemented by the National Ozone Unit involve a variety of valued stakeholders from the public and private sector as well as UN Implementing Agencies. To date the country has met and exceeded its national obligations under the Protocol. …

The company supplies customers all around the globe: units produced by thermofin® are being used in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment for storing and processing food in supermarkets, deep freezing plants and logistics centres. Heat exchangers produced by the company are also used to control the air temperature in large computer centres, ice rinks and indoor ski slopes. Established in 1991, ThermoKey has been manufacturing heat exchangers of various types for over 25 years and is currently internationally known as the ideal partner for manufacturers of cooling units in the AC, refrigeration and cooling process fields. ThermoKey is the first European manufacturer of heat exchangers and fan units using aluminium microchannel heath exchangers. Microchannel technology allows a reduction of refrigerating fluid up to 65% and is compatible with GWP-free refrigerants, such as ammonia and propane. ThermoKey has long since introduced CO2 as a refrigerant for the whole range of evaporators to stay in line with the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set by the regulation. Amongst the most important factors to be taken into consideration, there are the values that CO2 presents for GWP and ODP indicators, respectively equal to 1 and 0, which demonstrate its energy efficiency and sustainability from an environmental point of view.
