Best practice Blue Seal Air Curtains
Brightec’s BlueSeal air curtains are perfected for temperature controlled road transport, developed to maintain the temperature inside the vehicle. During loading and unloading BlueSeal is activated automatically. Outside air is sucked in by BlueSeal and converted into a vertical air curtain that separates the temperature inside the trailer from the ambient temperature outside the vehicle. The use of a BlueSeal air curtain has been proven to reduce infiltration loads by approximately 30-45%, resulting in a significant reduction in overall thermal load, which in turn reduces the carbon footprint and fuel costs of transport refrigeration systems (independent research project by the Centre for Sustainable Energy Use in Food Chains of Brunel University). BlueSeal effectively maintains temperature zones and ensures product integrity. Besides, it is driver-friendly, easy to install and provides an effective and silent air barrier. …
Member Brightec BV
Driven by climate change and the exhaustibility of fuels, Brightec was founded in 2010 with the mission to develop sustainable technologies in the field of temperature-controlled road transport. With roots in physics and energy technology, Brightec is proud to present a long track record in the research and development of environmentally friendly, energy-saving and sustainable energy solutions. Our solution approaches a common problem in temperature-controlled transport: maintaining the cold chain. The BlueSeal air curtain does just that, and is far more sophisticated and energy-efficient than its alternatives. BlueSeal is an innovative air curtain that creates an effective and hygienic barrier between the air temperature in the vehicle and the ambient temperature. …
Member National Ozone Unit Mexico
The National Ozone Unit (NOU) in Mexico is considered an integral part of the General Direction of Air Quality Management, and has full commitment with the national administration, has direct contact with the vice ministry for environmental protection, mainly in order to direct the policies, strategies and priorities for Mexico in ozone layer protection activities. The project aims at institutional strengthening and capacity building of the SEMARNAT (Ministry of Environment)/ Ozone Unit and will ensure assisting the Government to meet its obligations under the Montreal Protocol on the substances that deplete the ozone layer in an environmentally sound manner, including the impacts on public and labor health, safety and energy efficiency. …
Member Unité d'Ozone Mali
As part of the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation of the Republic of Mali, the National Ozone Unit (NOU) is responsible for the political implementation of the commitments set out in the Montreal Protocol. Mali aims to improve the energy efficiency of appliances by introducing a combination of regulatory tools such Minimum Energy Performance Standards, information labels, and innovative economic tools. Further, it actively drives the transformation to natural refrigerants. …

Best practice Good practices in the use of alternative substances to Hydrochlorofluorocarbons
Mexico has demonstrated its leadership in the area of climate change by establishing synergies for the efficient use of energy and the protection of the ozone layer, as well as by fulfilling its commitments with the Montreal Protocol in a timely manner. As proof of this, in 2010 the consumption of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), substances used in refrigeration, air conditioning, aerosols and polyurethane foams, was totally eliminated in the country. That is why for the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) it is a priority to continue the policies and actions that contribute to mitigating and reducing the major global environmental problems that are climate change damage to the ozone layer. …
Member National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of the United Mexican States
State educational institution created to consolidate, through education, the Economic, Scientific, Technological, Cultural and Political Independence to achieve the social progress of the Nation, in accordance with the Historical objectives of the Mexican Revolution, contained in the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States. The Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Mecánica y Eléctrica (ESIME) Azcapotzalco Unit, belongs to the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN). It is located in Mexico City, it has forged thousands of engineers through the years and it is considered one of the strongest pillars of the IPN, participating in the industrial development of Mexico in a prominent way. This campus has approximately eight groups that are involved with refrigeration and air conditioning, each group consists of approximately 40 students. In the Laboratory of Thermal Machines of this institution, training is provided on refrigeration and air conditioning systems, internal combustion engines, thermal turbines, steam generators and thermal plants. The laboratory is made up of square and triangular duct installations, as well as ventilation systems, air conditioning and a refrigeration equipment for tests and failures adapted by interface to a PC, so that students can monitor their operation, detect and maintain common anomalies. In 2017, the school undertook a comprehensive project to equip this laboratory with state-of-the-art technology, given the identified needs for highly qualified human resources in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries. …
