02.07.2018 News Costa Rica's innovative RAC training truck trailer
It might be the first of its kinds worldwide: the new, unique RAC training truck trailer of the Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA) will soon tour through Costa Rica. This 350 million Costa-Rica-Colónes (about EUR 531,000) investment aims to provide mobile and nationwide training for up to 250 technicians per year in the RAC sector.

Grenada's National Ozone Unit (NOU) together with GIZ Proklima's project C4, with financial support from the German BMU under the IKI, promotes the use of natural refrigerants in refrigeration systems and advance energy efficiency through a new green cooling label. Two local retailers already joined the initiative on the Caribbean island state of Grenada.

Almost 40 policymakers in the field of ozone and climate protection and RAC experts and trainers have successfully completed a Cool Training (in May respectively in June/July) on the safe use of natural refrigerants. For the first time, the training for National Ozone Units (NOUs) was conducted in Spanish.

Based on recently collected performance data of split-type air-condition (split ACs), the Cool Contributions fighting Climate Change (C4) project held two webinars on costs, energy and climate impact assessment of split ACs in Asia and Latin America in June and July. All together over 150 participants from government, private sector and the civil society took part in the two webinars and discussed the findings of the market study.

In the course of the OEWG 40, GIZ Proklima presented its work during three side events. More than 100 participants from science, civil society as well as policymakers and industry members informed themselves about RAC inventories, "Greenfreeze" and safety security standards.

01.04.2018 News New project promotes sustainable and climate-friendly phase out of Ozone Depleting Substances (SPODS)
SPODS – a new the project, co-financed by the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) – has been launched earlier this year in Paris. The project aims at assisting selected Latin American and Caribbean countries with their political transformation processes in fulfilling their obligation under the Montreal Protocol related to HFC mitigation.

On February 14, 2018, Midea – one of Chinese world’s leading technologies group in the RAC sector - received the German Blue Angel ecolabel for its new, environmentally friendly air conditioning system. The label was awarded to Midea during the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) trade fair in Milan, Italy.
